The 5-6-7 Rule Should Be Your New Go-To Method For Perfect Burgers

Tasting Table recently featured insights from David "Chef Fig" Figueroa, co-founder of Melinda's Foods, on the optimal timing for cooking medium-cooked burgers. Chef Fig recommends the 5-6-7 rule: grill the patties for five minutes on one side, flip and cook for six minutes on the other, then let them rest for seven minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. For stovetop cooking, he advises adjusting the times to 4-5-6 minutes respectively. Chef Fig also emphasizes the importance of cooking on medium to medium-high heat and ensuring an internal temperature between 140 and 145 degrees Fahrenheit for safety.
